Discovery SpaceClaim: Model Prep for CAE & MFG

Preparing CAD models for simulation and analysis can be the most important part of a simulation workflow and can also take the longest amount of your time.  Upon completion of the Getting Started Tutorialsthese video tutorials will teach you how to clean up and optimize your geometry for simulation prior to meshing.  You'll learn basic repair, how to simplify and defeature a model, and a number of other geometry prep operations, listed in detail below.  All videos can be streamed directly from this page by clicking them.

15) Weld Surface Creation Tool: This video shows how to use the Weld Tool to create new weld surfaces between midsurface and shell bodies that cannot be extended. Extending surfaces to intersect with each other is often the optimal way to create a conformal mesh. When the midsurface shells cannot be extended properly, the Weld Tool is used to join the bodies correctly.
